Our Purpose

We need to cut carbon pollution now to address the climate crisis facing us!

• Improved Public Health: save lives, reduce illness
• Economic Benefits: create jobs, spawn new industries
• Environmental Protection: mitigate sea level rise and deforestation, preserve natural environment for future generations
• National Security: mitigate conflict
• Social Equity: help heal the disproportionate impact that fossil fuel use has on under-resourced communities

The purpose of this site is to inform the public and public officials of the many means by which we can reduce the greenhouse gas emissions driving climate change. Unless our region, our country, and the world get serious about reducing carbon pollution, rising seas and more frequent severe storm events will quickly overwhelm preparations now underway in Hampton Roads to adapt to this changing climate.  We all need to do our part. 

On this website, we intend to share useful information on how our local governments and we, as individuals, can shift from our reliance on the fossil fuels that currently power our electric grid, heat and cool our houses and businesses, run our cars and trucks and keep our industries running.
